PM Narendra Modi leads Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin in Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ Poll
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading in a ‘Person of the Year’ online poll that is being conducted by Time’s Magazine. There are many other top notch contenders in the list namely US President-elect Donald Trump, US leader Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin and the list is huge.
This is the fourth time in a row for Modi to be leading in this ‘Person of the Year’ poll. The honour will be given to the person who is most influential in the news in the past year. Last year German Chancellor Angela Merkel received Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ honour.
The editors of Time’s Magazine decides the most influential person among the world leaders, presidents, protesters, astronauts, pop icons to be a person of the year and also takes the votes of common people into consideration. People cast their vote to the person who shaped the year. Time said the reader poll is an ‘important window’ into who they think most shaped 2016.
PM Modi Leading With 21 Percent Votes in the survey
As per the votes cast by the readers, Modi is leading with 21 percent voting for now. For some time, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange had surpassed Trump in the online poll by 10 percent.
Nevertheless, Modi has got 21 percent votes so far whereas Putin got 6 percent, Obama got 7 percent and Trump got 6 percent. We have to wait and see if Modi manages to keep up in the leading position till the end of the poll. He poll will end on 4th December this year.
