Will Sourav Ganguly replace Anurag Thakur as BCCI President: The Board of Control of Cricket in India Administration is currently in search for a replacement to the Post of President. The SC took the decision to remove Anurag Thakur for noncompliance with recommendations of Lodha Committee. There are several crucial pending decisions that even include those of the IPL TV rights that have to be taken. The IPL is one of the major tournaments which may be scheduled to take place shortly. The IPL TV rights issue is also a major source of revenue for the Cricket Board.It is not only important but urgent also to fill the post of the top BCCI position, the BCCI President.
Sourav Ganguly as BCCI President?
Presently the SC Bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur is working with the BCCI Administration to nominate members with impeccable integrity. Sr. Advocates Fali S. Nariman and Gopal Subramanian are expected to finish the given task in two weeks. The passing of the direction for nominations in the administrators’ committee is said to be on January 19. On the other hand, the BCCI also must nominate one of the five BCCI VPs as an acting chief. The two senior advocates along with two senior VPs from BCCI will run the affairs of the Board. The senior most BCCI Vice President will be the acting President and Joint Secretary will be the acting Secretary.
As of now, the two senior BCCI VPs include CK Khanna & Gautam Roy. The first is veteran Delhi District Cricket Association Official. The third time senior most Vice President are from Central Zone. Whereas the other VP is from Assam Cricket Association (2000- 2015) who is serving the second term as Vice President. Both the senior VPs have been with their respective states’ Cricket Association for more than 10 years and will need to be in cooling period. One more name circulating is that of Sourav Ganguly the former Indian Captain who heads the Cricket Association of Bengal.
