Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association has always been known for the murky politics played within and multiple internal conflicts have tarnished its image. Because of this, a very bad image of the association has been carried into the public. And at times only when the players who were influential enough were getting into the teams, it was demotivating the talented ones.
Thus, to bring a fair system in the association and improve the whole selection process along with other processes the Hyderabad Cricket Association members have chosen to appoint Ex-Indian Cricketer V V S Laxman as an advisor to the association.
Speaking about his appointment to the advisory board V V S Laxman expressed his happiness and said “ I am very happy to be a part of this Committee which is a right step to strengthen and shape the future of Hyderabad Cricket ”.
Apart from the appointment of V V S Laxman, the board has also appointed Ms. Purnima Rao, an ex-Indian cricketer who captained the Air India Women’s Cricket ( AIWC ) team in various domestic tournaments. She also captained the national team in 3 test matches and 8 ODI matches. With the appointment of Ms. Purnima Rao, the HCA wanted to indicate that there will be equal importance given to the woman cricket team and that’s definitely a great move by the association.
“By including me as a part of the Advisory Committee it is very obvious that Women’s Cricket is a priority for the newly formed Apex Council and I will extend all support and promote the cause of Women’s Cricket in Telangana,” said Purnima Rao’s press release.
Though both of them are appointed, at the same time there are three vacancies on the nine-member council which are to be filled by the association. There are currently vacancies for players representative ( female ), players representative ( male ) and the nominee for CAG’s office.
