PV Sindhu & Dutee Chand Combine Training
After being the first woman athlete representing India at the Rio Olympics sprint Dutee Chand has shifted her training base to Hyderabad. The Sprinter now joins premier athletes and trains with Badminton’s Star Player PV Sindhu. She said, “It’s like a home away from home. There are lots of friends to gossip with.” Her new training base, as well as her new training partner, gives her a new hope in the upcoming year.
The International Association of Athletics Federations banned the sprinter in the year 2014 from participating in all competitions. She challenged the IAAF’s ban and won the case in the CAS. She set many national records for the 100m sprint on multiple occasions and qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016. This was only one of the tough times she faced as her fellow sprinters socially boycotted the player. As per the IAAF, there was more testosterone in her than the permissible amount for female athletes. The condition is known as hyperandrogenism. She was the first female to represent the country for Sprint Even at the Olympics in 36 Years. Still, she was made to feel lonely as female hyperandrogenic athletes are considered ‘Cheats’.
“As I had no friends, I felt so lonely. During training sessions, top athletes were reluctant to train with me. Off the field too, I was all alone. I had no one with whom I could share my thoughts.” Dutee Chand had said this when she was asked about her time at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala during her build-up to the Rio Games. Now India’s Olympian Dutee Chand will put in forces in combined Training Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu. As per a report, both premier sports stars will practice sprint training in the shuttler’s off court training sessions.
