Politics: The YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met the presidential canditate Ramanth Kovind in order to show his parties solidarity towards his presidentship. The Presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind who is the NDA supported leader is in the race against Ex-Speaker Meera Kumari. He is touring across the country in order to gain support from the regional parties and take them into confidence.
Ramnath Kovind met the YSRCP chief along with the legislators who play a key role in the Presidential elections at Park Hyaat on Tuesday. Soon after the announcement of NDA Presidential candidate YS Jagan extended his support. And meanwhile the BJP national chief Amit Shah too ringed Mr. Reddy for his parties support in the upcoming presidential elections. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy replied saying that he will be with BJP in this matter as Mr. Ramnath Kovind is a Dalit candidate and YSRCP is committed towards the upliftment of the minorties.
The BJP high command has been making severe attempts to take YSRCP into confidence as the relationship with its current regional ally TDP is slowly snapping away. The preferential treatment given my Mr. Narendra Modi to YS Jagan over the TDP leader in terms of appointments is clear indication of the same. This indicates that the regional party might form an alliance with BJP in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections as well as extend it’s support during the General elections which are expected to be held next year. However, ther is a chance that YSRCP might loose it’s muslim and christian vote bank which is a major asset, if it ties up with BJP which is seen as a hindu pro activist party.
