DJ heads towards 100 crores while Salman fails
Entertainment: June is one such season where only a handful of movies release and even a mediocre movie would do really well. This is not because of the script nor the star, it’s just because of the scarcity of films in this season. Since there are hardly any films in this season a couple of big stars try to cash in this moment. And it did give results in the past to many because people tend to watch whatever is running in the theater.
But this June there were only two big releases, one being a movie of stylish star Allu Arjun in Telugu and Salman’s Tubelight. The out and out commercial ‘ Duvvada Jagannadham ‘ starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in lead cast is a purely commercial film with an average story line. Directed by Harish Shankar it had his flavor of dialogues, mass action, and entertainment which got a huge response from the B category theaters.
The team of DJ claimed that they have collected Rs. 83 Crores in the first five days itself. Despite the piracy issue it had, the film did really well. And at present as per the producers has crossed the Rs. 100 crores mark. However, there are wide spread rumors that the collections which the team is claiming to be are completely fake and were just a part of their PR stunt. The producers chose not to comment on this rumor and said that the negative reviews have not affected the film in any manner. But one thing which will is little hard to believe is how did a movie with such routine formula and nothing new to deliver, do so good.
The film ‘ Tubelight ‘ starring Salman Khan and Sohail Khan directed by Kabir Khan is till date the worst performer at the box office when compared to Salmans last 10 films. It’s been a week since it has released and the film is still struggling to inch towards 100 crores. With Salman’s career at peaks, there were high expectations on this film. However, the brother duo has disappointed all their fans this EID.
