WhatsApp makes it easier to spot forwarded messages; Here’s what it means
Instant messaging app WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for its beta users which will allow them to differentiate between the forwarded messages and the ones that were actually typed out.
WhatsApp is now going to make it easier to spot messages that have been forwarded to you.Part of the latest beta version of the app on Android, the messages that have been forwarded come with a label. This feature is set on by default and cannot be altered.
The feature has been spotted by wabetainfo.com that follows WhatsApp Google Play Beta Programme in the version 2.18.67.
If this feature has been updated on your WhatsApp beta app you will start noticing it on forwarded messages. Just above the message that has been forwarded, there will be a text highlighted which says “Forwarded” along with the arrow icon. So whenever you forward any message on WhatsApp and send it to other contacts, it will be displayed along with the forwarded label. Also, this forwarded tag doesn’t appear on the desktop version of WhatsApp. There is no option either to turn this feature on/off.
WhatsApp has also added the possibility to forward stickers to other chats which will be available in the future.
Recently, WhatsApp also started rolling out two new features- media visibility and new contact shortcut — with its Android update version V2.18.159.
Another feature which comes with the update is of contact shortcut, addition to new group. Pressing the shortcut will enable the user to quickly create a new contact. These features are in beta mode and are not available for everyone presently.
