Andhra Pradesh: Inspired by the Jallikattu protest in Tamilnadu, the Andhra Pradesh youth have decided to protest on the AP Special status issue. All the Tollywood celebrities have come forward and supported the students of Andhra Pradesh. The credit for initiating this protest goes to the JanaSena Chief Power Star Pawan Kalyan who tweeted requesting every AP student to come onto streets on January 26th and protest silently for their rights.
The handle #APDemandsSpecialStatus went trending with 70.4k tweets yesterday. When this matter came to the notice of AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu he denied permission for the protest. He also requested the students not to attend the event as it’s January 26th and there is a high chance of anti-social elements taking advantage of such a situation. AP DGP Sambasiva Rao also denied the permission for the event and said that it’s impractical for the AP police to provide so much force as security in a short span.
“This is merely a call from social networking platform and i urge the students not to respond to the same. We are here to protect your rights and you can definitely protest, but this is not the right way” said DGP. However JanaSena chief requested the DGP and CM to grant permission for the event.
